Discover the romantic city of Verona, the setting of one of the world’s most famous love stories, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ . And in the summertime the setting of one of the most important opera festivals in Italy . We will visit all the key Verona sights on a walking tour which starts in Piazza Bra , home to the famous 1st century Arena roman amphitheatre, continuing on to discover Juliet’s House and Balcony , Piazza Erbe where the Roman Forum once stood, plus many more important sites such as Piazza Signori, Romeo’s House , the Santa Anatasia Basilica, The Roman Arch Bridge dating from 100BC, and the Duomo . Visiting the city is just a forerunner to the main event, the Opera in the Arena . One of the most suggestive settings to see an opera, the Arena is the third biggest and probably the most wellpreserved example of an Roman amphitheatre in Italy. The Opera starts at 9:00pm , as it gets dark, and the sheer size of the stage and set do a different kind of justice to drama and tragedy so often portrayed by opera. For seasoned opera buffs or first timers opera in the Arena is a unique and emotive experience
